LUIS ALBERTO R QUINTERO
3D CHARACTER ANIMATOR
BIO

Luis is a 3D animator who works on imaginative characters, worlds and stories. For the past 12 years he has animated for feature film, AAA games, television series and short films.

His passion for animation started when he was growing up in Cuba. There he communally watched the cartoons with his friends, at his house or at theirs; depending on which district had electricity that evening. This developed his sense of fellowship and an amazing wonder with the spectacular characters, worlds, and stories he was watching, inspiring him to start drawing.

Animated shows and drawing came to be an integral part of Luis’s identity when he and his family moved to Israel at the age of 10. Through his drawings he overcame the language barrier with his classmates. Their early friendship and praise showed him that art was universal, that drawing allowed him to communicate and connect. It meant that through it he was a part of his environment with his own gravity. He continued to watch animations, recording them, replaying them and drawing them. They were ever-more channeling his curiosity.

At age 14, Luis with his family moved to New York City. This change set him on the path to an arts education. In NYC he attended the High School of Art and Design where he studied different art subjects including his major medical illustration. He enrolled next at Pratt Institute, where he focused his studies in 3D animation earning his B.A in Digital Arts. After completing his education in 2012, Luis started working as a 3D artist.

With a focus on character performance and a generalist arts skill set, Luis has been animating characters focusing on the most appealing choices for their acting. Along with rigging, modeling, texturing and storyboarding he has collaborated to visualize the creative directions and needs of productions.

Animation has always been a source of inspiration and wonder for Luis. He spent his early childhood sharing it with his friends. Inspiring him to draw, giving him the ability to befriend his classmates in a new country. Art and Animation became his career choice when he moved to New York City. Those have been a universal energy always present and deeply rooted into who Luis is.
